Unit 7 Reflection
This unit of ecology was all about biological conservatism. It was about how ecology must be conserved for the very existence of us. The balance of such ecosystem is to balance ourselves. Simply put, we cannot save ourselves without saving the planet with us, which is a big theme in this unit. We learned that if there is an extinction or population drop in a species, the other animals in the ecosystem are affected dramatically, usually detrimentally, which can lead to a domino effect, destabilizing the house of cards that our ecosystem, us being at the top. It is important to reduce our harm to the environment, thus dealing less to ourselves. I want to learn more about what we, the governing force of a democratic nation, can do. I have many unanswered questions. How much must we do to negate the damage we have already done to the world? How can each one of us help? How can we spread awareness? How much more pollution, habitat destruction, or ecosystem damage will it take for us to really get in trouble? I wonder if creating an ecosystem on Mars in the future could cause different species to form, unprecedented from before, or instead create a place where animals can thrive, creating resources if the Earth ever runs low.
During the Conservation Biologist Project. I think the balance of work wasn't good. There were people in the group who were working a lot more than other, myself included, and that's partly from how hard some people tried, but also how busy some people are relative to others. Also, the amount of days people were absent affected how much work they could get done. In the end though, I think everyone worked really hard to get the project done, just that some tried harder than others (I'm talking to you, Ranna 😉). However, there was a bit of a technical goof up at the end. Kai had sent me the wrong file to upload as a submission to our project. I had to do the video compiling all over again. Kai corrected his error the morning after, but it was too late by then. I thought it was fine, though.

- What was this unit about? What were the themes and essential understandings? DON'T JUST RATTLE OFF WHAT WE LEARNED. EXPLAIN WHAT WE LEARNED.
- What do you want to learn more about? What unanswered questions do you have? What do you wonder about?
- Reflect on your learning and experience collaborating on the Conservation Biologist Project. What went well? What didn't? What did you learn? How was the collaboration?
- During collaboration there can be conflicts because of they way in which people communicate. Take this self assessment
